When HPAI/H5N1 in dairy struck across the US, there were many approaches states implemented to conduct surveillance of their milk supply. Vermont took a unique approach based on our industry, regional milkshed, and turning weaknesses into strengths within our state. Elle St. Pierre is a proud Vermont dairy farmer, mother, and world-class athlete. Alongside her family, she helps manage their dairy operation, balancing the hard work of farm life with raising her children. Outside the barn, Elle has gained international recognition as an Olympic runner and gold medalist at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. Her story reflects the resilience, dedication, and pride that define dairy producers everywhere - showing that whether on the farm or the track, hard work and passion pave the way to success.

E.B. Flory

E.B. Flory serves as the Dairy Program Manager at the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets. She is honored to lead an exceptional team of individuals who work collaboratively to serve and implement food safety across Vermont’s dynamic, diverse, high quality, and always creative dairy industry. E.B. serves on the Executive Board of the National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments (NCIMS) and is currently serving as Past President on the National Association of Dairy Regulatory Officials (NADRO). E.B. was born and raised on her family’s dairy farm in Virginia where she was a fifth-generation farmer and a first-generation cheese maker. When E.B. is not working, you will find her talking about the magic of cheese making and other dairy products…she just can’t help herself, and her most favorite people still love her anyways: her wife Abby, and their 18 year old dog, Kentucky.

Joey Aldana

Joey Aldana grew up in what was once a thriving dairy town, spending much of his early life around cattle and local farms. That connection led him into a career focused on supporting dairy producers and the animals they care for. Joey spent over a decade in Central California helping introduce modern technology to identify and address on-farm hoof health challenges. During that time, he worked closely with veterinarians, nutritionists, hoof trimmers, and dairy teams across the country- building trusted relationships and practical solutions that improve decision-making and reduce lameness. For the past four years, Joey has been part of the HoofStrong team at Specialty Sales, LLC and is now the Sales and Service Manager for the East Region, supporting dairies from Minnesota to New York, and continues to drive efforts to bring innovative, reliable hoof health tools to producers of all sizes. His focus remains on improving cow comfort, herd performance, and long-term success against lameness challenges.

Steven Pavelski

Steve Pavelski

Steven Pavelski, Nedap’s Large Herd Sales and Training manager, grew up on his family’s dairy in Northeast Pennsylvania. After graduating from Penn State he relocated to the central valley of California. The majority of time in CA was spent on a large dairy before returning to Northeast PA to work for ABS Global in sales. Steve’s journey in technology started in 2013 when he joined SCR in a training and support role. The past 2 years have been spent with Nedap. In this role Steve helps support Nedap’s partners in both sales and customer training. Steve also has been very involved in the commercial validation of Nedap’s newest technology, Smart Sight lameness detection.

Whitney Hull is the Dairy Specialist for UVM Extension, working one-on-one with Vermont dairy farmers to solve challenges in milk quality, nutrition, and farm management. With a Master's degree in Animal Biosciences from UVM and 17 years of dairy industry experience, she partners with farmers and their teams to implement management practices that strengthen both efficiency and economic viability across Vermont's dairy sector.

Carson Dugger

Carson Dugger is the lead agronomist at Eocene Environmental Group and assists with data collection and the development of content for a variety of reports and deliverables. He also works collaboratively across the organization on various aspects of projects related to the EcoPractices® platform. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University, he worked at a coop as a sales agronomist for three years prior to joining Eocene, which gave him a practical understanding of production agriculture and the daily decisions farmers make.

Daniel Peerless

Daniel Peerless is Nestlé Global’s sustainable sourcing lead for dairy, meat, poultry and eggs. He leads the implementation of the Nestlé Responsible Sourcing Standard withing the global supply chain for animal-source ingredients and addresses key Nestlé priorities including human rights, animal welfare, deforestation and climate. As the technical lead for the Dairy Climate Taskforce, he identifies technologies and practices that can be applied to reduce emissions in Nestle’s dairy supply.

Jake Hoewisch

Jake Hoewisch of Waupaca County, Wis., is the fifth generation to own and operate Hoewisch Homestead Dairy, LLC, with his wife, Jennifer, parents and uncle. They milk 150 registered Holstein A2/A2 cows twice daily, with a focus on milk quality and low somatic cell count. In 2018, they diversified with a meat to table beef business, H&S Tasty Acres LLC, owned in partnership with another family. They also have a custom manure drag line and baling business.

David Trimner

David Trimner is co-owner of Miltrim Farms in Athens, Wis. Miltrim Farms is home to 3,100 milking cows, split between a robot and parlor-milking herd. The farm crops 5,100 acres used solely for the dairy. The farm was established in 1988 by Scott Trimner, Tom Mueller and Martin Mueller, and is owned by its 3rd generation, consisting of David and his wife, Jessica Pralle-Trimner, and Andy and Jenny Miller. The farm focuses on conservation as well as self-improvement, for the operation and the individuals who work there.

Kurt Petik

Kurt Petik is a Senior Relationship Manager with Rabo AgriFinance. Kurt was raised on the family’s beef cattle ranch in north-western South Dakota. His deep agricultural roots led him to South Dakota State University, where he received B.S. degrees in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business. Kurt has spent the past 20 years of his agricultural banking career living in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. As part of Rabobank’s Major Agricultural Clients team, Kurt works to connect leading dairy farms to the resources, knowledge and networks of one of the world’s largest and most innovative agricultural banks. Rabobank’s vision is to support leading producers and agribusinesses by recognizing and encouraging the ambition, independence and innovative thinking that is necessary to compete in a global marketplace and to provide the foundation for future generations.

Brady Weiland

Brady Weiland of Columbus, Wis., is the fifth generation to own and operate Weiland Dairy LLC, with his parents, brother, and eight employees. Brady and his brother also own and operate High Gear Holsteins LLC and employ an additional nine employees. As dairy manager, Brady oversees the two 600-cow herds. He graduated from Madison Area Technical College and furthered his education at the UW-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course. Brady believes strongly in PDP’s educational focus and regularly attends PDP events. He is a member of the Wisconsin Beef Council, a volunteer firefighter, and has served as church treasurer and council member.

Will Gladstone

Will Gladstone farms alongside his parents, Walt and Margaret, and his younger brother, Matt, on their family’s dairy in Bradford, Vermont. Since his parents purchased the original 120-cow dairy in 1988, the operation has grown to 3,000 cows and 3,500 acres, including 300 acres of wholesale pumpkins. Will earned an associate degree in Dairy Farm Management in 2008 and now manages the herd and herd staff. He and his wife, Brooke, live on the farm with their three daughters. Will has played an active role in the family’s generational transition, working with consultants to develop a sustainable plan for the future of the farm. Passionate about the next generation of dairy farming, he believes in the importance of communication, planning and flexibility in family business succession.

Laura Ginsburg

Laura is currently the Dairy Strategy and Innovation Manager for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets and has served as the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center Lead since 2019. In this role, she coordinates with regional stakeholders, oversees the strategic implementation of project funds, and develops ideas to address long-term dairy business success. Prior to this position, she served as Section Chief in the Vermont Agency of Agriculture's Development Division where she led a team of staff who ran programs to support business development, marketing, market expansion and access to funding. Before moving to Vermont, Laura and her family ran a small, diversified livestock farm and ice cream creamery in Montana. Laura has a Master's degree from the University of Montana where she focused her research in the state's dairy supply management policy, was a Fulbright Scholar to New Zealand to study free markets impacts on dairy farmer decision making, and is currently working towards an MBA.
